Balancing act.

Though it can sometimes feel arbitrary, I like to view the celebration of the new year as a necessary illusion. For me, it's a container of possibility for magic and mystery that always brings out a raw, unbridled curiosity in me. Right now, it seems like everything in my vicinity is vibrating with secrets and has illuminated insights to give me: What does the ceiling know? What did the weathered windowpane see?
It's been one whole year since I started this newsletter project, and this month's offering is coming to you with a fresh look and a renewed sense of center. I, too, come to you with new vigor—I spent the very first days of the month shooting lots of film on a Death Valley getaway and started 2022 with the most unreal sunrises of my life (admittedly, I have a soft spot for early mornings). It's been delightful to be more present with you this month after several weeks of slow goings while I took some personal time; I'm reminded why I'm here and how much I love this strange and serendipitous life of mine! Thank you for inspiring me so.
As I mentioned in last month's offering, I returned to school this month and recently began my classes for the term. I originally left university some time ago in response to an unrelenting sense of boredom and blockage (and in prospect of some new perspective); after taking several years away to delve deep into learning merely as a student of life and to garner wisdoms from everything around me, I'm returning to academia feeling energized and ready to reorient. I'm just a few short strides from finishing this degree in preparation for applying to some other graduate programs that really do light my fire. That being said, I'm still figuring out how to be a full-time student again! In my excitement (and yes—hubris), I've flown a little too close to the sun some days; my time and energy feel extra precious as I set out to find the right balance between discipline and daydream, which is a lesson in its own right.
One of my favorite holidays is fast approaching (I remember spending hours and hours at the dining room table as a little girl painstakingly cutting and stamping and folding intricate valentines for all my classmates each year and have certainly retained some of that pure, joyful reverence for it all), and I'm giddy that I'll be in the Bay Area that week from February 11-14. After that, I'm back in Chicago til my DC jaunt from February 26-28. Peek at my booking form or send an email to see me in my most romantic element this coming month! And if we don't cross paths for Valentine's proper, never fear—here is this month's date special: Let me be your Valentine—all February brunch & dinner dates are set at a special rate for the duration of the month (4 hours: 1,300). While I have a couple spots in both Chicago and the Bay Area in mind…I'll always lend an ear to new suggestions. I've also updated my wishlist with a few items and causes that set my heart on fire—I can receive treasures at my mailing address (via my Luxylist) or even better, be surprised in person along with the pleasure of your company. These are never expected, but always received with deep joy and gratitude!
My adventuring may be limited after February due to my studies (and depending on the status of COVID risk), so catch me where and while you can (including my online content site where I share sultry visions from afar). That being said, I continue to visit my beloved San Francisco each month and do have some other brief journeys in the works; I'm in the throes of arranging my schedule for the next few months—please see my full upcoming availability down below. I'm requiring pre-bookings for all travel dates, so be in touch well ahead of time if you'd like to see me somewhere! Til then, I'll be available regularly in Chicago and open to jaunts throughout the Midwest, as well as fly-me-to-you adventures wherever else. You can keep up with my antics via my Twitter and Instagram as always.
To all you sages and students.
xoxo, L
